About this time, every year phones at DuPage Forest Preserve District offices start ringing. With leaves off the trees and an occasional coating of snow on the ground, the concern about the presence of coyotes in the area peaks. First Light host Brian O’Keefe talked with Forest Preserve animal ecologist Dan Thompson. He thinks coyote numbers are a little higher than they used to be, but not dramatically


It's The Season For Coyote Sightings


At this time of year, you may start to see the region’s largest predator on a more frequent basis. Litters of coyote pups were born earlier in the spring, those hungry mouths mean the adult animals are foraging for food and may be out more often.
