Each month…in an ongoing partnership with Giving DuPage I take some time on First Light to turn a spotlight on the various non-profits in the county…the services they provide and the opportunities for volunteerism they make possible. This month in the ‘Doing Good’ segment…Giving DuPage Executive Director Shefali Trevedi and I discuss the organization’s annual ‘Human Race.’ The event gives local runners a chance to support more than 50 local non-profits with a single event

Periodically on First Light…WDCB’s Gary Zidek visits with representatives from the region’s non-profits for our ‘Doing Good’ segment. The conversations not only highlight the work the agencies do, but also the volunteer opportunities for people that want to give back to their community. This week, the focus is on a single event that benefits many, the Human Race has raised close to $500,000 since it was started in 2011. Gary talked with ‘Giving DuPage’ director Shefali Trivedi about the unusual fundraiser.
For the past year, WDCB’s Gary Zidek has worked with Giving DuPage to shine a spotlight on the various non-profits in the area and the opportunities they offer to people that want to give back to the community. Many of the organizations wouldn’t be able to accomplish their mission without volunteers. This week Gary looked back at the yearlong series of discussions…and looks forward to 2018
